World blood donor day – 2024

World blood donor day – 2024

World Blood Donor Day is observed every year on 14 June to raise awareness about the importance of safe blood and blood products, and to thank voluntary blood donors for their life-saving contributions. The 2024 theme is “20 years of celebrating giving: thank you blood donors!”, marking two decades of global efforts to promote blood donation.

This day highlights the crucial role of voluntary, unpaid donors in ensuring safe blood supplies for patients in need—whether for emergencies, surgeries, maternal care, or chronic illnesses. It also encourages more people to come forward and donate regularly, making health systems stronger and more resilient.

World Blood Donor Day 2024 is not only a celebration of the generosity of millions of donors worldwide but also a reminder that every drop of blood can save a life.
